Post Ubuntu 10.04 install
Friday, April 30th, 2010So here are the things I do post Ubuntu 10.04 install
- Install Nvidia drivers via “System > Administration > Hardware Drivers”
- Setup twinview
- Create new gnome panels and set them to be used on different screens (or via gconf key /apps/panel/toplevels/panel_2/monitor = 1)
- Move the window boarder buttons back (/apps/metacity/general/button_layout = :minimize,maximise,close)
- Switched auto raise and sloppy focus on (/apps/metacity/general/auto_raise_delay = 600 , /apps/metacity/general/auto_raise = true, /apps/metacity/general/focus_mode = sloppy)
- Install Adobe Flash (select APT for Ubuntu 9.04+)
- Reduce all the font sizes to 9
- Disable “Visual Effects” and enable Metacity compositor (/apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager = true)
- Enable Auto scrolling (mouse middle click)Â and smooth scrolling in Firefox
- Installed VLC, EasyTag, GIMP, Inkscape, Bluefish, gpass, build-essential
- Install DVD decryption support, sudo sh /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh
