Canon iP90 GNU / Linux Ubuntu

After much faffing around with trying to get a driver working for the Canon iP90 printer in GNU/Linux and CUPS I have found that the Canon PIXMA iP2000 driver that comes with CUPS (the printing service on most Linux Desktops ..including Ubuntu) works perfectly well, i’ve not tried anything very high quality yet, but i’m less optimistic about that.

    Hello Michael.
Thank you for this. I have a canon ip90 that used to be compatible with my asus eee pc. I sent
it off for repair (a new carriage), and now canon does not support linux. I have a green light to
print, and nothing is happening… I have spent 4 hours trying to install this repaired printer- as
new canon printers are only for Mac and MS systems.

Thank you for one more piece…

    Sincerely,
    Lori Evans.

    Hi,

The best was to get the IP90 working on Linux is Turboprint. It’s not free but it’s not that expensive and you can download a trial version. It provides a series of drivers for various inkjets and a printer management gui tool.

    Hope this helps
