Firefox 2 Tabs

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

I don’t like the way the FireFox 2 does scrolling for it’s tabs. I quite often have 10+ tabs open and the whole point of tabs for me is that i can SEE all the windows I’ve got open to be able to select the one I want, and not to have them hidden away. Also having the close button on the tabs makes for very tedious closing of multiple tabs
Anyway if you want to put it back to how it used to be in firefox 1.5 you can use the latest version of “tab mix plus” it’s an extension/addon for FireFox. The preferences that you want to set on this are:

Open the tab mix plus preferences, Click “Display” firstly go to the “Tab” tab.

  • Show close tab button [ unticked ]
  • tab width 22 to 100 pixels
  • tab width fits to tab title [ unticked ]
    In the “Tab Bar” tab:
  • show close tab button [ ticked ]
  • When tabs don’t fit width Multi-row
  • Max number of rows to display 2

go from this (8 tabs): firefox 2 tabs

to this (8 tabs): Firefox 2 tabs with tab mix plus

The rest of the new features are great.
